Collected terms of use
Last updated 22 October 2026
These are the terms for using Collected, the dog-training and dog-care app from Runabout Digital (we
, us
). We've kept them in plain English. Please read them. When you set up Collected, the app asks you to confirm that you understand it isn't a vet and that you agree to these terms and the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
The short version
- Collected is free to start. Collected Pro is an optional subscription, sold and renewed by Apple until you cancel.
- Collected is a training and care guide, not a vet. Nothing in it is veterinary advice.
- Scout's online answers are written by an AI. They can be wrong. Check anything about health with your vet.
- In an emergency, call your vet or a poison line. Don't wait on an app.
- Training a dog carries some risk, and you're responsible for your dog.
- Use Scout fairly, and don't try to break or misuse the service.
- The app is provided as it is, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows.
1. Apple's license
Collected is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Apple EULA). These terms add to it. If anything here conflicts with the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA wins. Apple isn't responsible for Collected or its content, and isn't a party to these terms beyond what the Apple EULA says.
2. Subscriptions
The first two courses, the care record, reminders and the emergency card are free, and stay free. Collected Pro adds the rest of the training path, more questions a day for Scout, and more than one dog. It's an auto-renewing subscription bought through the App Store.
- The price, the billing period and any free trial are shown in the app before you subscribe.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the next period within the 24 hours before the current one ends.
- If you start a free trial, you won't be charged if you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. You keep Collected Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, and nothing you've logged is deleted.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue them ourselves.
- If a price changes, Apple tells you first and, where its rules require it, asks you to agree before you're charged the new price.
3. Not a vet
Collected is a training and care guide, not a vet. It gives general information about training and caring for a dog. It isn't veterinary, medical or behavioral advice, it isn't a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and it doesn't replace your vet or a qualified trainer who can see your dog. Using Collected doesn't create any vet–client relationship.
The care tools, such as breed weight ranges, growth estimates, meal portions, the food check and reminders, are general guides that suit most dogs. Dogs vary with age, size, breed and health, and your vet's advice about your dog comes first. Collected never gives medicine doses; those come from your vet or the product label.
If your dog has bitten someone or shows aggression, please work with your vet and a qualified behaviorist in person. Collected doesn't coach aggression or bite problems.
4. Scout and AI answers
Some of Scout's answers are worked out on your phone from the app's own sourced lists. Others are written by an AI model. Before your first online question, the app tells you this and asks you to confirm you understand it.
- AI answers can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, even when they sound sure. Scout has never seen your dog.
- Scout's answers are general information, not professional advice. Don't rely on them alone for decisions about your dog's health, safety or medication.
- Scout won't give medicine doses, diagnose anything, or advise on biting or aggression. It points you to your vet, a poison line or a qualified professional instead.
- You decide what to do with an answer, and you're responsible for that decision.
5. Emergencies
If your dog may be ill or injured, or has eaten something that could be harmful, contact your vet or an emergency vet straight away.
If you can't reach a vet, a pet poison line can help. In the US: the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, (888) 426-4435, or Pet Poison Helpline, (855) 764-7661. In the UK: Animal PoisonLine, 01202 509000. These services may charge a consultation fee. If your dog may have eaten something poisonous, don't wait for signs, and don't make your dog sick unless a vet tells you to. Scout doesn't answer emergencies, poisonings or medicine doses; it points you to your vet and a poison line instead.
6. Training safely, and its risks
You're responsible for your dog and for the people and animals around it. Follow local laws, including leash laws. Train somewhere safe, use treats that suit your dog's diet and health, and stop a session if your dog seems afraid, distressed, unwell or in pain. Ask your vet before training a dog that's recovering from illness or injury.
Assumption of risk. Dogs are animals, and training, handling, exercising and caring for them carries risks that no app can remove, including bites, scratches, falls, escapes, and injury or illness to you, your dog, other people or other animals. You choose whether and how to follow anything in Collected, and you accept those risks as your own.
7. Acceptable use
Please use Collected, and Scout in particular, the way it's meant to be used. Don't:
- try to get Scout to produce harmful, abusive or illegal content, or anything meant to hurt a person or an animal;
- send other people's personal information to Scout;
- use automated tools to send questions, get around the daily limits, or overload the service;
- copy, reverse-engineer or resell the app or its online service, except where the law allows it.
We may limit or suspend access to Scout's online answers if they're being misused. Everything that runs on your phone keeps working.
8. Your data
Your training and care records are stored on your iPhone, not on our servers, so we can't restore them for you if they're lost. A device backup or a phone-to-phone transfer carries them over. The privacy policy explains exactly what is and isn't sent when you ask Scout a question.
9. Our work
The app, its lessons, its writing and its painted dogs belong to Runabout Digital. You may use them for your own, non-commercial use under the Apple EULA. The name Collected and its look are ours too.
10. Limitation of liability
We work hard to make Collected accurate and reliable, and its facts come from published sources it names. But we provide it as is
and as available
, without promises that it will be error-free, always available, or right for your dog. Training results depend on the dog and on the person doing the training.
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses;
- we aren't liable for injury, illness, death, damage, loss or vet costs arising from training, handling or care decisions, from relying on Collected or Scout's answers, or from anything your dog does;
- our total liability to you for all claims is limited to what you paid for Collected in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Dakota, United States, and any dispute about them will be heard in the state or federal courts located in South Dakota, to the extent the law allows. This doesn't take away any protection the law of the place you live gives you and that can't be waived.
12. Changes
We may update Collected and these terms. When the terms change, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change matters, the app asks you to agree again the next time you open it.
